Walking into a new gym for the first time is one of the most common reasons people put off starting altogether. If you have been putting off your first strength and conditioning class in Port Coquitlam, BC, here is exactly what happens — from the moment you walk in to the end of your first fifteen days.

You Don't Need to Be Ready to Start

There is no fitness level required to walk through the door. Our workouts are scalable by design, which means beginners and experienced athletes train side by side in the same class, at the same time, while still being appropriately challenged. Coaches are trained to offer real-time regressions and progressions, so the same movement gets adjusted to wherever you actually are that day — nobody hands you the same barbell as the person next to you and tells you to keep up.

What to Bring on Your First Visit

  • Comfortable workout clothes you can move freely in
  • Indoor training shoes, or shoes you don't mind getting sweaty
  • A water bottle — sessions run 50 to 55 minutes with no break to leave the room
  • A little extra time before class to introduce yourself to your coach

What Actually Happens When You Walk In

Arrive a few minutes early. A coach will introduce themselves, ask if you have any injuries or movements you want to be careful with, and walk you through the basics — where the equipment lives, how the warm-up runs, and what the workout looks like that day. None of this is expected knowledge on day one, and nobody is going to hand you a clipboard and walk away.

What a Session Looks Like

Every class follows the same shape: a warm-up to get your body ready, the main workout, and mobility work afterward to help you recover. That structure does not change day to day — only the specific movements do — so by your second or third class the format already feels familiar even when the workout itself is new. The whole session, start to finish, runs 50 to 55 minutes.

Finding a Time That Fits Your Week

Strength and conditioning classes run six times a day, three days a week, so there is usually a slot that fits around work or family. Our strength and conditioning classes page has the full rundown of the program, and the full weekly timetable shows every session across the week — worth a look before your first visit so you know what else is running.

What It Costs to Try It

You do not need to commit to a membership to find out whether this is the right gym for you. New members can start with fifteen days of training for fifteen dollars, which is enough time to try a few different class times and see how the coaching and the format actually feel. Full membership, drop-in and class pack pricing is available when you get in touch once you are ready to keep going.

The hardest part of a first class is almost always the decision to book it, not the class itself. If you are still deciding whether strength training is the right place to start, here is the case for lifting over endless cardio — and either way, your first fifteen days are fifteen dollars.
